In celebration of our 125h Anniversary, we are making available a limited edition commemorative hard-back book written by veteran journalists Jack Money and Steve Lackmeyer.

With Cornerstone, The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, 125 Years, Money and Lackmeyer present a compelling, often dramatic tale of early day struggles to create a YMCA worthy of a growing boom town, it’s role in keeping the community together during the Great Depression, how such non-profits had to adapt to the Civil Rights movement and equal treatment for women, and it’s adaption to suburban sprawl and a changing population.

Packed with historic photos, Cornerstone, The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma city, 125 Years, is no ordinary recitation of a non-profit’s history, but is a story that will interest anyone with a desire to understand more about Oklahoma City’s history and the efforts of those who sought to forever strengthen its collective mind, spirit and body.

Our summer resident camp in the Arbuckle’s of southern Oklahoma is much like many Y programs where an emphasis is placed on learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.

The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is pleased to announce our new 2014 LIFECHANGING CHALLENGE Series! The LIFECHANGING CHALLENGE kicked off in March with the IDLE IRONMAN CHALLENGE. Registration for the next phase, SPRING TRAINING, is now open at all YMCA locations across the metro and all who complete the challenge will receive an official SPRING TRAINING t-shirt!

Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. Medical Studies show that moderate levels of exercise help cancer survivors physically and mentally, increasing their overall quality of life. LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a FREE 12-week YMCA-funded program for adult cancer survivors. Our program is about saying ‘goodbye’ to being a patient and saying ‘hello’ to being a healthy, whole person again.

Summer programs at the Y are starting points for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and to develop healthy habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. And the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Make sure your child is signed up for the Y camp of their choice. Registration is now open for everyone! Some locations are already at capacity, so be sure to register now!!
