Bethany YMCA Child Watch Policies and Procedures.

  • The YMCA child watch only accepts children ages 6 weeks to 7 years old.
  • It is a YMCA policy that all children attending child watch be signed in and out by parents.
  • The maximum # of children allowed in the child watch area at one time is 20 (or 10 children per staff member)
  • There will be a limit of 2 infant children per staff person. Infants are included in the 20 total children. Please understand this is for your child’s safety and well-being. If the child watch area is full, check back in 15 minutes to see if there is an opening.
  • A time limit of two (2) hours per day per child is enforced in the child watch area.
  • Parents you may not leave the building of the Bethany YMCA at any time while your child is checked into the child watch area.
  • The Bethany YMCA child watch is a membership service. The child watch is free to children of YMCA MEMBERS. If you are not an adult or family member you CAN NOT leave your child in our child watch room.
  • Child watch is available (during posted hours) while you are PERSONALLY PARTICIPATING in a YMCA program on-site.
  • Outside food and drink will be limited. Acceptable snacks are cheerios, animal crackers, saltine crackers, water in spill proof cups and pre-made baby bottles. It is NOT the responsibility of the child watch staff to feed your child (bottle or otherwise), this needs to be done before coming to work out or attend a group exercise class. They can assist in handing out snacks though.
  • If your child cries for more than 20 minutes you will be notified and required to assist in soothing your child. You will be asked to remove your child if he or she bites, hits, kicks, harms, or spits at another child or staff member. If this behavior continues on other visits we reserve the right to discontinue this service for you and your child
  • The child watch staff reserves the right to ask any parent to remove their child from the child watch area.
  • There is a late fee for picking up your child after the posted child watch closing time. The fee is $1.00 for each minute you are late.
  • Please provide all necessary items for your child. This includes bottles, diapers, wipes, snacks, ect. The Bethany YMCA does not provide these items.
  • Children who are ill, who have had a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, rash of unknown sourse, discharge of eyes or ears or any contagious disease or infection will not be accepted into child watch.
  • Please clearly label all belongings. Make sure that your child has had a recent diaper change and/or has been to the restroom before entering the child watch area.
  • Children should never be left in the child watch area unless there is a staff person present in the room to accept your child.

The exchange of information about a child from a parent’s perspective and a staff perspective is very helpful. The staff will be better able to meet the needs of your child if we are aware of any special needs. Any special requests or information that will help us serve you and your child should hand written and be turned in to the Bethany YMCA program director, Rolland Bastianelli.

We are here so you may enjoy your visit to the Bethany YMCA. Thanks for your cooperation.
