The North Side branch was organized
in 1956 and the facility was built in 1961. Expansions
to the building came in 1968, 1979, and 1984. This branch
serves northwest Oklahoma City, including Nichols Hills
and the Village.
The North Side Y has a fitness and cardiovascular center,
two gymnasiums, indoor pool, aerobics room, racquetball
courts, indoor track, locker rooms and a multipurpose
room. The fitness center has STRIVE strength training
equipment, treadmills, bicycles, stair climbers, elliptical
trainers and the FitLinxx interactive workout system.
A child watch center is available for short-term childcare
for parents who are exercising. A wide variety of group
exercise classes are held throughout the week, including
aerobics and water exercise.
Programs of the North Side YMCA include school age childcare,
summer day camp, youth sports, personal training, Adventure Guides,
Parents' Night Out and
swim lessons.
